HCL is now introducing Domino Workspace, a new, integrated workspace designed for organizations with strict requirements for data sovereignty and security. The solution brings together email, calendar, chat, meetings, file management, and applications in one unified platform—while ensuring that the organization retains full control over its own data and access management.
This is the alternative for those who want to secure ownership of their data, maintain jurisdiction, and avoid the risks associated with using solutions subject to the Cloud Act and other laws that allow foreign authorities to access your information. This applies in particular to well-known U.S. companies such as Microsoft, Google, and AWS.
Domino Workspace is developed for organizations seeking a modern, flexible, and future-ready collaboration platform—without compromising on compliance, privacy, and regulatory requirements. With Domino Workspace, organizations can build on their existing Domino investments while providing users with a modern, user-friendly, web-based experience.
At the same time, HCL Domino Workspace is an excellent choice for companies, organizations, and public authorities that require a highly reliable, encrypted solution—operated in a secure data center of your choice, or as an on-premises installation that provides full control over both operations and security. This also includes integrated AI that ensures full data sovereignty.

Key Features
- Email, calendar, chat, and online meetings—seamlessly integrated into a single unified workspace
- File collaboration and office suite for efficient document sharing and co-authoring
- Comprehensive control of data, roles, and permissions—built for data sovereignty
- Development, modernization, and operation of business-critical applications on the Domino platform
- Advanced integration and personalization capabilities (planned for 2027) for tighter integration with other enterprise systems
Deployment Environments and Compatible Solutions
Domino Workspace is designed for flexible deployment across a variety of IT environments. The solution can be installed and operated:
- Locally (on-premises) in your own data center
- In private clouds under the organization’s full control
- In sovereign cloud solutions that meet national and industry-specific requirements for data handling
This flexibility makes it possible to tailor the installation to the organization’s security policies, regulatory requirements, and existing infrastructure—while benefiting from the robustness and scalability of the Domino platform.
Release Plan
The first phase of Domino Workspace, featuring core communication and collaboration functionality, will be launched in June 2026. This phase includes, among other things:
- Email and calendar
- Chat and online meetings
- Office suite
- Group boards
- Task and activity management
The next phase, with expanded integration options, advanced personalization, and deeper connections to external systems and cloud services, is planned for release during 2027. This will enable organizations to further tailor user experiences and workflows.
